Really not much to report from the compound. The 'rents are back from their trip and I'm still waiting for the good gossip from the nieces and nephews. (C'mon, you know there was something! Throw an old mama a bone, will ya??!)

the Boy continues to be adorable and has many new words. Occasionally he'll even take a 10 second break from talking!

Here he is working on his latest masterpiece.

And the Baby is still Mr. Mellow and often very happy to just hang out and watch the scene.

Updates and such...

We had a wonderful Christmas, with the Boy just starting to understand the whole concept of Santa. He loved the presents under the tree but was absolutely fascinated with the missing cookies and milk. (yum!)

The Boy got a lot of new stuff, including this adorable horse. He also is having fun with his new tackling dummy, which I figure is just another investment in his future NFL career.

The Baby also had a fun Christmas, although I'm ashamed to admit he really didn't get anything! For appearance purposes, I wrapped up some baby toys we already had, and he seemed just as happy with those. (yes, I'm sure he will read this later in life and require years of therapy.)


Note the look here! I think he is saying "Hey, how come that loud kid got all the loot?!"
Sorry Baby, next year, I promise!

We've just been enjoying the week and all the extra time we have had with DM. I've been able to sneak out midday for a workout and that always puts me in a great mood. Given all the cake, brownies, and cookies I've been eating, I can definitely use some extra workout time! I hope you have all had a good holiday and I look forward to seeing everyone very soon!

can't believe how much he has grown!

As you can see from this picture, the Baby has had quite the growth spurt! Not only has he put on weight but he seems to have grown a full head of hair as well!!

The Boy is a great big brother and makes sure that the Dog doesn't eat him while he is in the swing.

We will be here....all alone....on the compound....don't worry about us....enjoy the food....play bingo....we'll be fine....maybe you could bring us back some sand or something?

Fitness event : 2 cute kids in a basket

Laundry basket rides are a winter olympic sport in our house. Not only does this provide minutes of entertainment for energetic toddlers (and helpless babies), but it will also keep you in shape.

Visitors!

Yay! We had visitors on the compound!! My old friend Cheryl (no, she's not old, she's just been my friend for a long time!) came out with her hubby and adorable boys. Everyone had a great time, except for my antisocial Boy. He cried. A lot.
But I had fun! and visitors! (did I mention that yet?)

They all oogled over the baby, of course! Thanks Cheryl for coming all the way out here and good luck with #3!!! You better let me know what you are having as soon as your find out, ok?

Monday again

Yea, I know it's no longer Monday but does that really matter?

Here's the update: DM is out of town. I know, you are shocked, yes?!
Even better is that it has been raining for the past 3 days!
Can it get any better?
YES, it can!! The baby no longer wants to sleep at night!
WAHOO!! We are having all sorts of fun going on here on the compound!

Friday ramblings

here are some random things from this past week.

• snow is not fun, unless you are a child. It is cold, wet, and annoying.
  
  
• DM was out of town again...having sushi and pizza with Debra and Greg. It is very hard not to be bitter about this.
  
  
• The hours between 8pm and 9pm are miserable in this house. If you are walking by on the sidewalk, you might be frightened by the sounds of sobbing and screaming coming from the house. (and it isn't only from the kids....)
  
  
• Thank you Gma for watching the baby so I could take the Boy to Little Gym. This is one of the rare moments in my week that I get out of my cage, so I am really bummed when I have to miss it.
  
  
• Note to parents who attend Little Gym with me. Dude---if your kid is HACKING up a lung and covered in snot, please keep HER home. I really wanted to bust out the lysol spray during class. It's gross and annoying, especially when you get my wee ones sick.
  
  
• Eating chocolate chips on the couch at 11:30 pm does not help anyone's diet plan. I really wish I liked wine because I think it would end up being less calories and then I might actually sleep.
  
  
• The dog hasn't had a walk all week long, the poor thing. Anyone need a dog friend?!
  
  

I think that is all that comes to mind right now. Then again, it is late and my fingers are covered in chocolate.

Snow? Good grief!

Snow is great when you are a kid.
When you are a cranky cold mommy, it's not so much fun.
Thankfully, DM was around to take the Boy out in the cold. I got to stay inside and stay warm with the Baby. We hung out on the couch and watched "The View" together. (haha!)
I'm definitely losing my marbles.
Is it summer yet??!!!

It is Monday again?

A few days ago we were doing this.


Today we are bundled and trapped inside because it is FREEZING out there!! (sigh)

We did venture out (in the car, of course!) to visit Gma and Gpa because this mommy cannot stand to be trapped in the house all day. (and yes, DM is gone again)

We had a fun time and Austin played in his favorite spot. I have no idea why he likes being in this tiny pack n play, but he honestly wants to be in there!!

Meanwhile, the leos played on the ground.

And this pathetic thing is our Christmas tree! It looked great in a small townhouse with lower ceilings. Now that we are in a bigger place, it really looks like a shrub in the corner of the room.
